The reading and lecture both are discussed about ethanol fuel. While the reading states that ethanol are not a good alternative of gasoline and the passage provides three reasons to support. The professor refutes this points, say that this reasons are not convincing to determined ethanol are not a good alternative fuel.
First of all, the reading claims ethanol are not able to solve the fuel problem rather it creates problem like global warming, increase of carbon dioxide. However, the lecture refutes this points by saying that ethanol are not actually add carbon dioxide. Ethanol fuel produced from corn tree but tree actually absorb the carbon dioxide from environment. In ethanol production process not increase carbon dioxide rather it reduce carbon dioxide.
Secondly, the reading posits that production of ethanol reduce the animals food because all animal food are used for ethanol production. However, the lecture disagree with that he think that life not facing problem when ethanol production increased, because only west part of tree are used for ethanol production and core part used for animals foods.
Finally, The reading passage argues that ethanol are not able to compete with gasoline on prices, because price of ethanol production are high and government provides subsidies that reduce the price at gasoline level. The lecture refutes this claim by pointing out that if production are increased the price of ethanol is reduce. If ethanol production are three times greater than recent production than it's price reduce 40%.
