The professor explains three arguments opposing the points stated in the reading passage about the ancient clays which contained copper cylinder surrounded an iron rod. Some archaeologists are dubious about the cylinders application in electricity production, however, the professor has presented evidences to support electricity production idea.
First, the professor argues that these clay were found by untrained local people and and they might overlooked or even thrown out other objects like metal wires. So, the idea has been repudiated by professor.
Second, the reading passage asserts that the copper cylinders are highly similar to copper cylinder have been discovered in Seleucia that were employed for holding scrolls of sacred texts, thus, both of these cylinders might have had used in same purpose. On the contrary, the professor draws attention to the idea that early ancient scientist could able to produce electricity by mixing iron lodes and liquids. Furthermore, these cylinders' application could changed overtime from using for holding scrolls to producing electricity as battery.
Third and last, although reading passage claims that there were not any devices that replied on electricity, indeed, electrical devices ans tools, the professor believes that ancient doctors would use this electricity for mild shocking in order to release pain from muscles; the action that our doctor are doing now. In addition, this mild shock could introduced as magic power to people. Therefore, the professor rejects this hypothesis either.
