The reading discusses some possible problems associated with a turtle excluder device (TED) which is an invention for taking care of the endangered turtles' life. The professor, however, challenges all of the claims made in the article and refutes them all.

The first problem mentioned by the author is that turtles get trapped seldom and one shrimper usually catches one turtle every month, so, it is not a lot. The lecturer, on the other hand, argues that thousands of shrimper operate in ocean and if each boat catches one turtle, it would be 1000 of turtle died.

Furthermore, the writer brings up the idea of shortening the time limit that boats are allowed to keep their nets uder water as a more effective method. To combat this idea, the speaker posits that it is impossible for the government to observe each shrimpe-fishing boat. Thus, TED is more practical than the passage's proposal.

Finally, the author highlights the escape passage of TED as another concers, throgh which loggerhead and leatherback turtles cannot fit. As a feasible solution, the lecturer proposes that it is easy to modify the size of the TED and enlarge it. Therefore, the larger TED can be utilized in the areas where bigger turtles live.
