The reading passage claims that there are several solutions that responsible businesses can use to prevent injuries which comes from using glasses in design of buildings to birds. However, the lecturer casts serious doubt in this claim by presenting counter-arguments and examples. He believes that none of these strategies are stop birds from injuring.
Firstly, the lecturer contends that one way glasses have their own problem due to they work as a mirror, thus birds do not have this ability to realize that they see the picture, it means that if they see the reflect of the sky or tree absolutely they think that this is a reality, hence they continue their flying. This, however, is contradict to the passage mentions that if birds cannot see through a window, they will understand that the glass forms a solid barrier and will not try to fly through it.
On the other hand, it is noted in the passage that architecture can use colorful designs in order to birds would see the stripes and avoid to try to fly through the glass. In contrast, he clearly asserts that if we use some designs with normal distances which beneficial for people who are in the building to see out, maybe birds imagine that these are holes, thus continue flying through them, conversely if we use lot of shapes that close each other, therefore make a dark environment in the building that is not suitable condition for people who are in this place.
Finally, The speaker points out that using magnetic devices is not practical thanks to birds use this ability for long distances, for instance, if they want to migrate to another place because they do not want to miss the way they use this skill, though it is not useful for them when they fly from one side of a city to another side because in this situation they get help from the brightness and their eyes. Nonetheless, the text argues that create an artificial magnetic field to guide birds away from buildings is a good method to prevent birds from injuries.
