First and foremost, the professor explains that the cost of one device would be reasonable after we divide the number of trees that were grown by this device, with the number of the reused devices.This argument opposes the reading, which states that one device is very expensive; therefore, growing millions of trees would require a meaningful effort to fight desertification.

Secondly, the lecturer points out that people, who will volunteer to install these devices, could benefit from them. She argues that the box shape device can collect water, which could be used for other purposes such as to grow other plants rather than trees. Also, the waste of trees could be used as fire wood. Nevertheless, this contradicts reading, which claims that asking local people to install and maintain the devices is going to be difficult.
