Even if people choose willingly to participate in unhealthy practices, not all people get the same wage as some of them get low income. Imposing taxes on food will create greater burden on low income group. This contradicts the reading, which claims that taxing people who engage in unhealthy behaviors creates extra income that can be used to cover any medical services they need based on their unhealthy practice.
Third, it's true that government are getting millions and millions from such high taxes. However, they don't impose any type of policy or guidelines to prevents unhealthy practices because they benefits from such taxes. for example, they can ban smoking from all outside areas but they won't do it because they benefit from such revenue. this rebuts the article, which states that the high taxes from cigarettes is being used by the government for other projects.
