The reading states three reasons to combat the problem of decreasing population of fish and bird, which is caused by salty water. however, the listening rebuts them one by one and gives sufficient reasons.
Firstly, the reading arrests that removing salt directly from water might work from the detrimental circumstance. Nevertheless, the listening reckons that it’s possible to remove salt from water, but this action will cause negative effects on environment. when salt is removed from water, something toxic will appear in water. Plus, when those toxic elements spread in air, it will exert harmful effects on people’s health.
Secondly, the reading considers that we can dilute the salt water from sea when we bring it into lakes. however, the listening refutes this suggestion from the financial aspect. The tunnels from sea to lakes are very long ,like 100 kilometers or even more. In this way they are very expensive as well, therefore the governments can’t pay for them.
Thirdly, as is stated in reading, constituting walls to divide the lake into several sections might work. however, the listening opposes this idea for it can’t work long time. The soil is not stable, and earthquakes happen as well.
