At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support.
Nowadays, most people attend universities and colleges for having better job opportunities and looking prestigious. Life in the modern world consists of many elements, like looking healthy and social. I personally agree with the statement that sports and social activities should receive equal financial support like classes and libraries. These activities are important aspects of a person's academic and non-academic life. If a person wants to work efficiently in academia and also look social, he needs sports and social activities. The following paragraphs comprehensively explain the reasons.
First of all, an academic person needs sports and social activities to have a good mood and feel better to work efficiently. Without these kinds of activities, they will feel depressed and tired of academic centers. My personal experience is a compelling example of this. For my B. Sc. degree, I was in a university with policies just focusing on academic matters, like libraries and classes. After just one year of study, I was really tired of being in the university and my performance was degraded. However, for my M. Sc. degree, I moved to another university with completely different policies about sports and social activities, I was really delighted about my academic career. Additionally, I was doing well in my courses and my thesis. Hence, I am of the view that supporting sports and social activities will result in a better mood and feel toward the academic center, and consequently, will affect the learners' and researchers' performance and efficiency.
Secondly, academic centers are a part of society. They do not have to be considered different and far away from society. Universities try to train people to have a better life, find better jobs easily. Universities have to train the students to be social because they are going to live in a society. For example, I myself learned how to speak well in a different situation at the university. I could find my favorite sport there. However, my father always tells me that he wasted his time in the university because he just studied there and learned nothing due to his university's wrong policies about sports and social activities. Additionally, he mentions that he had a problem for a while when he entered the industry due to a lack of social skills. Consequently, I believe that universities and colleges should support sports and social activities financially equal to academic issues.
In conclusion, I am of the opinion that academic institutions should champion the sports and social activities financially equal to the classes and libraries. This is because sports and social activities improve students' and researchers' attitudes toward their environment and work, and besides, learners go to live in society after their graduation, so they need to acquire useful skills to live in it.
