Yellow-legged mountain frogs
Scientists are still discussing the solution behind the mystery that yellow-legged frogs are disappearing in recent years. According to the passage, unacquainted trout, toxic chemicals, and fungal diseases can lead to the disappearance of yellow-legged frogs, but cannot stand the further scrutiny of the lecture.
In the first paragraph, the passage claims that trout can be blamed for the dispersal of the frogs. To object to this, the lecture explicates that if the trout starts to gobble up the immature frogs, then they won’t have started disappearing 60 years after the trout had been introduced.
The second attempt to explain this mystery has also failed. The passage claims that toxic chemicals from the farm get into the lakes or the rivers where the yellow-legged frog inhabits. But the lecture argues that the toxic chemicals travel down the hill but the places where the frogs live are situated above the farms, so the water downhill is not able to get.
The lecture also asserts that the passage is baseless to claim that fungal disease caused the frogs to disappear. The passage tells that fungi attack the frog’s skin, clogging their breathing and water system of them. But the lecture explains that chemicals on the frog’s skin could prevent fungi from getting in, thus protecting the frog’s health.
