The table and chart show the time spent at leisure and household activities in 2008.
The table and bar chart describe how much time male and female spent on recreation and household affairs everyday in 2008.
From the first chart, it is interesting to notice that men spend most time watching TV and video or listening to the radio show, 137 minutes per day, 19 minutes more than women do. In terms of reading, men and women spent almost the same time, 18 minutes and 19 minutes respectively. And obviously, men work out more than women do on an average day.
According to the second graph, it is clear that housewives did more chores than their husbands do per day. Cooking and washing dishes took most of women’s household time, occupied approximately 76 minutes one day. As the traditional arrangement of breadwinning men and homemaking women, housewives take double time to go shopping, do laundry and ironing than men do while as men are more willing to fix and repair.
Overall, men spend more time for entertainment while women spend a greater number of hours doing household. The only possible solution to the housework discrepancy is for everyone to do a lot less of it.
