The diagram below shows the production of electricity using a system called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC).
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion is a system used to develop and produce electric energy by using the temperature difference of the seawater levels. Whereas the surface can heat up to 29 degrees Celsius and and the deep water sea can be only 5 degrees Celsius.
The system is using three main components namely evaporation chamber, a turbine, and a condensing chamber. These components led the seawater to different stages and make it fuctional to give power to become electricity and drinking water. Firstly, the the surface of the seawater is heated by the solar energy produced by the sun. As it warms, it is then turned into water vapour and enters the first stagee of the system which is the evaporation system. In this stage, the water is boiled until the water is separated between salty water and unsalted water.
Secondly, the unsalted water are evacuated into the turbine. As it drives the trubine, the saltless water produced the electricity which means it is ready to enter the next step. The third step is entering the condensing chamber. Here, the saltless water turned cold by the depths of the ocean and after processed in the condensing chamber, the water is purify to become drinking water. On the other hand, the remaining waste of salted seawater enters the ocean to begin the process all over again.
