Co2 emissions in between 1967 and 2007.
The Line Chart compares carbon dioxide emission by per person in four main regions, over a time course of 40 years, since 1957, measured in metric tonnes.
Over the period as a whole, the carbon dioxide emission rose abruptly in Italy and Portugal whereas a significant fall was noticed in UK and Sweden, at the end of the year 2007.
In detail, in the year 1967, the Co2 emission by the UK was at the peak, as emission ratio individually per person was roughly 11 metric tonnes. Meanwhile, the Co2 emission in Sweden was doubled than that of emitted by Italy, in the same year. Portugal was not a significant contributor to the emissions, as only 1.8 metric tonnes Co2 emitted individually. After next 2 decades, in the year 1987, the same trend of Co2 emission was analysed in Italy and Portugal. In both of these regions, nearly 30% Co2 emission was increased and ended at 6.4 metric tonnes and 2.6 metric tonnes, respectively. However, the Co2 emission by Swedish people - which showed a dramatic fall in the case of emission of Co2 in Sweden, with minor elevation in the year 1977 -converged at this time with Italian emission.
At the end of the year 2007, as the Co2 emission ratio in UK and Sweden diminished with compared to previous years, ended at 8.5 metric tonnes and 5.2 metric tonnes, respectively. In contrast, the Portugal emissions ratio - in spite of the steeple rising in the Co2 emission - was the same as in Sweden. However, with a noticeable rise, the Co2 emission per person in Italy ended at 7.8 metric tonnes.
