The tables provides an overview of the expenditure of five European countries on fair-trade-labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004.Overall,it is clear from the illustrations that bananas’ sale was the dominant in Switzerland ,whereas the sales of coffee was a major in UK.
According to the data given by the tables, the largest coffee sale,3 million Euros ,was in Switzerland but after five years the highest sale could be observed in the UK(20 millions of Euros),that recorded more than three times higher than that of Switzerland.Also coffee sales in Denmark increased slightly from 1.8 millions of Euros to 2 millions of Euros during this period of time.The same scenario with Belgium and Sweden.
Meanwhile,Switzerland was the main market for fair-trade-bananas in both 1999 and 2004(15 millions of Euros and 47 millions of Euros,respectively),which increased dramatically in contrast with the remained countries.The trend of increasing also observed in the UK and Belguim. Interestingly , the sales volume of the fair-trade-bananas decreased in Sweden and Denmark in 2004 in than that of 1999.
