The professor explains arguments opposing the points stated in the reading passage about the could seeding performance in prevention of hail which has damaged many farm lands in United States.
First, the professor of the passage states that laboratory experiments indicate satisfactory results of adding silver iodide to clouds so that light snow made instead of hail. Conversely, the professor brings up some reasons to reject this hypothesis. She states using could seeding may cause drought due to its impact on prevention of precipitation, suggesting that farm lands and crops are more likely to get hurt by drought and lack of rain. As she believes, this solutions cannot solve the problem in appropriately.
Second, the professor opposes the idea presented in the reading passage about evidences from Asia. The professor sees that these evidences are not reliable due to different conditions which trigger scientists to think about cloud seeding effectiveness. As she state, this evidence are from urban and cities in Asia which are more suitable for cloud seeding because of air pollution. However, in clear and unpolluted rural areas in United States, this evidence could not be supportive due to lack of favorable conditions.
Third and last, the reading passage asserts that findings of local studies support the efficiency of cloud seeding because some scientists have found evidences that prove less crop damage in areas which cloud seeding has been used. In contrast, the lecturer disproves the idea by stating that such results were found in different places either and it seems to be results of natural phenomena not cloud seeding. Hence, she repudiates results of these studies too.
