The charts illustrate the production of electricity from different sources in two countries namely New Zealand and Germany in 1980 and 2010.
Overall, in both nations, the number of units of electricity generated in 2010 was higher than in 1980. In 2010, most electricity in New Zealand came from coal whereas in Germany, it mainly came from nuclear.
In New Zealand, the production of electricity from coal increased significantly, from 56 units in 1980 to 150 units in 2010. In contrast, there was a decline in the number of electrical units generated from natural gas and petroleum which decreased to 28 and 9 units respectively. Electricity generation by hydro changed unotiably, from 30 to 46 units in 2010.
In Germany, nuclear became the main source of electricity, accounted for 155 units in 2010. However, the units of electricity produced by hydro and natural gas declined to 2 units each after 30 years. Whereas, the generation of electricity from coal and petroleum remained stable, at 28 and 27 units respectively.
