The line graph demonstrates in percentage terms four approaches to modern technology in homes over a 14-year period from 1994.
As an overall trend, these patterns experienced increases in the percentage of use, and the most significant rise happened to DVD player.
In the period from 2002 to 2003, DVD player became known to people, but it was the least popular among all with about 30 percent of British using it at home. After that, the percentage of DVD player underwent a surge of well over 50 percent and passed Internet and mobile phone’s access percentage between 2006 and 2007. It then kept increasing to reach approximately 90 percent in 2008, and DVD player turned out to be the most common approach to modern technology.
The other patterns, on the contrary, did not witness a notable short-time change as that of DVD player. CD player’s proportion rose from about 48 percent to around 88 percent in 2004 and remained steady during the rest of the time. Mobile phone followed the same pattern and reached nearly 80 percent of being used at home in 2008. In terms of Internet connection percentage, it went up over the period from 1998 and reached its all-time high at about 65 percent in 2008.
