The charts give data about population age of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and also project their situations in 2050.
In 2000, over half of the residents in Yemen were below 14 years old. Followed by people who aged between 15 and 59 years old made up for 46.3%. Only 3.6% of the total population was over 60 years old. As for Italy, the majority of people were between 15 and 59 years old, with 61.6%. Over 60 years old group occupied 24.1% and only 14.3% of the total population were younger than 14 years old.
By 2050, the percentage of younger people in Yemen would decrease while the number of aged people above 6o years old would increase by 2%. The figure of the elderly over 60 years old is projected to be 46.2%, while the percentage of 0-14 years old group and 15-59 years old group would both experience a decline.
It is clear that both two countries would have more aged people over the fifty years period and compared to Yemen, Italy face a more serious ageing problem
