Which one is the most important for teacher of high school? The ability to help students plan for their future; the ability to find the student who need the most help and to give that help; or the ability to encourage students to learn on their own outside of the classroom.
Teachers are precious assets of any nation. they serve various functions in students' life. A group of people believes that teachers should lead students to have a beneficial plan for their life however, others subscribe to the belief that tutors have to possess an ability to encourage students to learn outside the classroom. I adamantly believe that teachers and schools authorities should provide students unconditional support and assistance to select a proper plan for their life.
First and foremost, since students are not aware of the economic and social situation of a major, teachers play an indispensable role in providing a proper perspective to students. As a matter of fact, we live in an era when scale and pace of economic change are unprecedented through all human history and if individuals want to prosper in this epoch, they need to have an accurate plan for their future. However, because of lacking sufficient information, children are not qualified to plan for themselves. It should be stressed that if they choose a path for themselves, the likelihood of selecting wrong one is a lot. On the other hand, teachers have entered in the labor market and it means that they have well-rounded information about the different profession in the economics and their suggestion would be beneficial for senior students who aim to whether to choose a profession or continue their education in the college. As personal example, I had a vested interest in mathematics and I was planning to study pure mathematics in the college but my mathematics teacher, Mr. Ahamdi, who was a dedicated tutor in the school suggested me to rule out this plan since there is not enough available job in this field and after graduation you cannot find a prestige job.
More importantly, since teachers have communicated with numerous students, they are more aware of students both capabilities and limitations than themselves. If students want to foster in their lives, they should have a goal related to their abilities and interests. Admittedly, in a case of having a target far away from their abilities and interest, not only it would lay the foundation of the failure, but also it would lead them to have an unhappy life. Take a gifted teenager having a bright future in a branch of art like music, for instance, deciding to entrance in other majors same as marketing would have detrimental effects on his life.
In a nutshell, having the competence of leading students to have an appropriate plan in the teachers is more prominent than possessing the ability to encourage them to learn on their own.
