Overall, both countries experienced slight fluctuations on the first three years. Divorce rates in Finland increased steadily throughout the period whilst Sweden gradually decreased. although Sweden commenced with a considerably higher percentage, with its downward trend, it finished off lower than Finland.
In detail, Finland started off well over 30% but notably lower than Sweden in 2011. It experienced slight fluctuations in 2012 and 2013 with its divorce rates around 33% and 39% respectively. By the next two years, it remained relatively stable at slightly over 40%.
Meanwhile, Sweden's percentage of divorce began significantly higher than Finland, with around 45%, approximately 8% difference. It peaked at almost 50% in 2012 and fell steadily on the following years. It concluded at about 38% in 2015 and became markedly lower than Finland.
