The bar chart aims to display the amounts of male and female students in thousands attending full- or part-time further education grades in the United Kingdom in three different lapses of time, 1970-71, 1980-81 and 1990-91. In detail, the graphic shows that within the first period, 1970-1971, the number of male students, accounting 1000 thousand people, exceeded the rate of women by about 2500 people; nonetheless, the gap gradually decreased in 1980-1981 and finally the trend reversed in 1990-1991 when female students overtook the opposite class by 1000 thousand enrolments.
Furthermore, the data reporting the amounts of part- and full-time students mirrored each other: in 1970-71, only 100 and 50 thousand male and female students respectively chose a part-time subscription against the 1000 and 750 thousand of full-time enrolled. Even though the trend steadily increased up to 280 for both categories, the number of full-time students accounted for more than 4 times part-time women and 3 times part-time men.
In conclusion, while British universities and post-education courses saw an increase in the number of female students, both male and female groups preferred a full-time solution over the mentioned period.
