The chart below shows the results of a survey of people who visited four types of tourist attraction in Britain in the year 1999
The pie chart compares proportions of quests to different categories of tourist sites and to five theme parks in Britain in 1999.
Overall, the vast majority of people went either theme parks or museums/galleries, while wildlife parks/zoos saw the least visitors. Also, Blackpool Pleasure Beach was by far the most popular of the theme parks.
If we look at the theme parks and museums/galleries, when combined the hosted three quarters of all guests, with the former having 38% while the latter got 37%. On the other hand, historic houses/monuments (16%) and wildlife parks/zoos (9%) when put together where nowhere near as popular, with only a quarter of total visits.
Turning to the parks with themes, whereas nearly half of the tourists here preferred Blackpool Pleasure Beach at 47%, Aton Towers and Pleasureland did not attract anywhere near as many visitors, with figures of 17% and 16% respectively. Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland were the least popular with each having a tenth of all visits in this category.
