The graphs illustrate data about the revenue of two types of Fairtrade-labelled products: coffee and bananas among five different EU countries from 1999 to 2004.
To begin with, the sales of coffee rose significantly in all five countries, especially in Britain which rocketed by 18.5 million euros, and Switzerland with 3 million euros. While the UK and Switzerland both experienced a dramatic rise in the revenue, the remaining countries only had a gradual increase in their sales. Belgium's sales raised by 0.7 million euros, while Denmark and Sweden only rose by 0.2 million each.
Similarly, banana sales also shot up in most countries, with Switzerland by 32 million euros, followed by the UK and Belgium with 4.5 million and 3.4 million euros, respectively. On the other hand, the sales of bananas in Sweden and Denmark both declined by 0.8 million and 1.1 million euros accordingly.
