The charts below give information on the ages of the populations of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections for 2050.
The pie charts compare two nations in terms of the populations in three different age groups in the year 2000 and predictions for 2050.
Overall, the populations of both Italy and Yemen in the 0-14-year group are likely to decrease whereas a falling trend can be seen in the over 60 years old during the 50-year-period. In addition, Italy is also predicted that its residents in the age of over 60 years will be dramatically higher than that of Yemen.
In 2000, the percentage of 0-14-year-old residents in Yemen accounted for 50,1%, compared to 14,3% of Italy. And the figure for Italian citizens aged 15-59 made up 61,6%, which was slightly higher than the figure of Yemen, with 46,3%. It is also noticeable that Italians in the age of over 60 years were nearly 8 times much more than that of Yemen.
In 2050, while the proportion of those aged 15-59 in Yemen is projected to rise to 57,3%, the figure for Italy is likely to drop to 46,2%. For 0-14-year-olds, there will be decreases of about 13% in Yemen and just over 3% in Italy. In regards to over 60 age group, Italians and the population of Yemen are predicted to increase nearly double to 42,3% and 5,7% respectively.
