The table given illustrates the information about the sales figures of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and banana in five different nations, namely the U.K, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium, and Sweden over the course of 5 years from 1999 to 2004.
Overall, the sale of Fairtrade coffee increased in all countries whereas there only had a growth of selling bananas in three out of the five countries.
Fairtrade coffee and bananas, at 3 million and 15 million respectively. By 2004, however, there was a change of position between U.K and Switzerland in the sales of Fairtrade coffee. It was the soar to €20 million, and this was over three times higher than Switzerland’s sales figure in that year. The year 2004 also saw a jump in the expenditure on Fairtrade bananas in Switzerland and U.K, with revenues rising by 32 million and 4.5 million respectively.
Regarding two products of Fairtrade, the revenue in Denmark, Belgium and Sweden saw a lower number. Small increases in sales of Fairtrade coffee can be seen, but revenue remained at €2 million or below in all three countries in both years. Finally, it is noticeable that the money spent on Fairtrade bananas fell slightly in Sweden and Denmark.
