The pie chart introduces the proportion of the expenditure spent on different household activities between the UK and New Zealand from 1980 to 2008.
A closer look at the pie charts highlights the fact that the money spent on food and drink was reduced in two countries during the ten-year period. Moreover, the British spent a significantly larger percentage of their household budget on leisure activities.
In 1980, 29% budget of New Zealanders went on food and drink, while this number was 6 percent less when compared with their counterparts. After ten years, the budget spent on food and drink in the UK had fallen by 10 percent while in New Zealand, people still spent a quarter of their budget on this ind of expense. Moreover, leisure activities took up the majority of expense in the UK for both years, compared to only 17% in New Zealand in 2008. However, the expense that people spent on utility bills saw an increasing trend in both countries after ten years. The only type of spending that was stabilized throughout this period was transport, which held up about 15% of the budget of the British and New Zealanders.
