The chart compares the water consumption in three distinct sectors among China, USA, Russia and Australia in 2010. It is clear that the water used in agriculture was more than in both industry and domestic activities; and the most significant percentage was recorded in China.
In the USA and Russia, the majority of water was used in industrial sector (about 44% and 60% respectively). Meanwhile, the second rank belongs to agricultural activities; and people in the USA spent about 38% on these as opposed to the Russian at 30%. The water usage in domestic sector was the least popular, with only 19% in the USA and 10% in Russia.
Additionally, although Chinese and Australian consumed the least amount of water for industrial activities (about 8% and 3% respectively), the ratio of water consumption in the others was slightly different. While most of the water in China was spent on agriculture (approximately 85%), Australian expended almost 61% of the total water consumption on domestic tasks.
