The chart below shows the number of men and women in further education in Britain in three periods and whether they were studying full-time or part-time. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The report aims to provide information about how people in the United Kingdom, represented by genders, pursued their higher education between 1970/71 and 1990/91 concerning the period of their study time.
Generally, it is seen that the number of people who were studying part-time was relatively higher than those who enrolled the full-time education. The majority of a graph experienced an upward trend, while the number of men in the part-time further study followed a downward trend. By the end of the period, female part-time pupils overshadow those of male students.
Focusing on male students, the number stood at 1000 thousand for college students in a part-time class in 1970 and fluctuated during the period. By 1990, its number decreased slightly to approximately 900 thousand. The full-time students, however, tended to show a slight increase from only 100 thousand in 1970/71 to over 200 thousand in 1990/91.
Over the 20 years, it is obvious that women seemed to continue their further education much higher. They showed significant growth in part-time education, reached and outraced those of men in 1990 with over a million students. The full-time study's students also followed a relatively similar path.
