The charts illustrate the distribution of water usage for various purposes in six continents of the world. The uses of water are grouped into three purposes: industrial use, agriculture use and domestic use.
It is no surprise that North America and Europe top the percentages of industrial use of water with nearly 50%. On the other hand, the other 4 continent have extremely high water usage percentage for agriculture purpose.
As North America and Europe have fast-growing industry, their water percentage for industrial use is almost five times of that in the other four continents. On the contrary, the percentage of agriculture use of water in these four continents is twice of that in North America and Europe. The continent that has the highest percentage of water used for agriculture is Central Asia as countries from this area mostly focus on developing agriculture.
Regarding the percentage of water used for domestic purpose, the two continents which rank first and second are South America and Europe respectively. Whereas the proportion of water usage for domestic purpose in Central Asia takes up only almost one-fourth of that in South America and one-third of that in Europe.
