The author explains that private ownership of fossils can damage public and scientists in three way. In contrast, the lecturer claims that advantages of private ownership of fossils can outweight its disadvantages and refutes every claims of the author.
First, private ownership can prevent public from seeing wonderful fossils. On the other hand, the professor says us that private ownership can increase opportunities for public places such as schools to purchase these fossils, so it can increase their exposure for people.
Second, Scientists lose access to some of the most important fossils. In contrast, the lecturer tells us that fossils have to be examined by scientists for putting values on them. Thereby, scientists wouldn't lose any important details about these fossils.
Third, commercial fossils collectors destroy scientific evidences. However, the professor explains that by selling fossils to private owner more number of fossils will be discoverd and it will be very valueable to have more fossils that being undiscovered.
