It can be seen that the percentage of households owning accommodation declined in most of the years over that period except for the slight increase from 2001 to 2011. Simultaneously, the household renting accommodation rate saw an apparent rise over the same period while it did have a drop after the year 2001.
The highest percentage of families living in self-owned accommodation, accounting for nearly 80%, occurs in 1918, while the lowest figure, which is just above 30%, is for the year 2001. Because of its opposite tendency, the percentage of households renting accommodation has its lowest numbers in 1918, which is just around 23%. Meanwhile, 2001 saw the largest proportion of families living in self-owned housing, which makes up about 70%.
