The graph below shows the amount of electricity produced from different energy sources to supply the city of New York between 1980 and 2000
Given is a line graph illustrating how much electricity three kinds of energy sources ( coal, natural gas, petroleum ) could produce to provide New York City from 1980 to 2000.
Overall, a more detailed look at a picture reveals that petroleum was the most predominant source during the whole period. Among the three patterns, natural gas witnessed the most significant rise.
To commence with, the amount of petroleum stood at the highest point at 350 million kW hours, followed by fluctuation, in 1985, that went up considerably to 600 million kW hours, and went down to the first position. 5 years later. Finally, more than 700 million kW hours, double than the quantity at first, was the data of this source in 2000.
On the other hand, natural gas firstly had the lowest figure, 100 million kW hours, and still remained steady in the following 5 years, while coal increased moderately from 200 to 300 million kW hours. In the rest period, the former surged by marginally above 500 million kW hours that comprised the second point, whereas the latter had just under the data in 1980.
