The charts below show the number of French adults whose parents spoke a French regional language to them when they were children and the number who speak a French regional languange to their own children
The chart shows that Occitan language was the most spoken language both habitually and occasionally in the past. 600 of the parents of the adults spoke Occitan habitually and 1.1m spoke to them occasionally. But now approximately 250 of the adults speak Occitan to their children. According to this information, adults who speak Occitan language to their children have decreased.
Alsatian language is now spoken the most by adults to their children. Now 400 adults speak Alsatian to their children. However, in the past, approximately 300 of the parents of the adults spoke this language to them occasionally. Which is proof of an increase in adults who speak Alsatian language occasionally to their children. Yet 600 adults spoke Alsatian to their children habitually in the past.
Corsican was the least spoken language by adults to their children in the past. Also, it is now spoken the least. The Corsican language was spoken by 200 parents occasionally and approximately by 180 parents habitually. It is now spoken by 50 parents. The numbers of parents who spoke this language to their children have dropped even though there has not been much decrease. Creole is the other language that has fallen but not as much as other languages. Breton was spoken by 300 parents habitually and by 400 parents occasionally, but now it is spoken by under 100 parents.
In conclusion, all of the languages have decreased even though there were no big differences in some of them, except the Alsatian language where there was an increase in numbers of parents who spoke the language to their children occasionally.
