You are having problems with a neighbour’s animals because the fence between your
properties is old and In poor repair. You want the neighbour to pay half the cost of
building a new fence.
Write a letter to your neighbour. In your letter
• say what the problems are
• explain how a new fence will solve the problems
• suggest that the neighbour pays half of the cost
Dear Mr Patel,
Hope you are doing good and your family is in a healthy condition. I am writing to draw your attention to the fence problem between our properties, which has got old and damaged, due to which your dog enters our premises destroying the plants and flowers.
There is a small hole in the fence, good enough for the dog to pass to the other side. A few days back, he ripped the tomatoes from the garden and also destroyed the lily plant kept in the backyard. I know that your dog is quite naughty and loves to play in the soil or mud, but we must repair immediately to avoid any further damage.
The new fence will not only restrict the dog but also my children will not come there from the backyard. Additionally, the fence structure has also aged, it can fall on either side someday and can cause damage to our family members.
I would request you to let's divide the fencing cost equally among us, as both of our family are sharing it. I have already taken a few quotations from our local suppliers, which is attached along with the letter.
I am waiting for your positive response.
Yours faithfully,
Shreyas Parab
