The graph below shows the number of complaints made about noise to Environmental Health authorities in the city of Newtown between 1980 and 1996.
The line graph illustrates information about how many complaints were made about din to Environmental Health authorities in the city of Newtown, namely Road works, factories, Traffic and Domestic Noises, over a sixteen-year period. The number of plaints are given in thousands.
Overal, what stands out from the graph is that there were considerable upward trends in complaints about Road Works, factories and Traffic noises, while plaints about Domestic dins fell down. Another interesting point is that people beefed up more about Domestic noises in 1980, but in1996, complaints about Road Works noise grew up.
Looking at the details, as regards Traffic noise, people started writing around 300 complaints about it in 1980. From this year plaints remaind stable until 1984 and fell slightly to 200 complaints. Having levelled off at 200 until 1988, people then made more plaints, which was reached at 600 in 1996. If we look at the number of complaints about Road Works, it was nearly similar. Only from 1988, it changed sharply, reaching 800 complaints, then it continued growing significantly to 1200 until 1996. Next, people's complaints about factories noises went up moderatily to just over 800 in 1990, then there was a slow plunge to approximately 700 plaints in 1996.
By contrast, Environmental Health authorities provided a big attention to complaints about Domestic voises. Problems were solved from year to year and at the end of the period people complained just under 100 plaints.
