Overall, over-grazing was the fundamental cause of worldwide land degradation compared to over-cultivation and deforestation when the highest proportion of ground degraded by over-grazing and North America remain the successful region, which collected the least rate of total land degradation.
To begin with, over-cultivation and deforestation were the important sources of agricultural land degradation, which made up 28 and 30 percent with just 2 percent difference, however, over-grazing was the fundamental cause of less productivity of the land by experiencing 35 percent compared to the other reasons, which were only 7 percent.
Moreover, the most excessive rate of over-grazing happened in Oceania by 11.3 percent when North America witnessed just 1.5 percent in the 1990 years. Subsequently, over-cultivation made up 7.7 percent, which was a higher proportion rather than Oceania where the rate was 0 percent in this period. Distinctly, the least percent of deforestation faced in North America by 0.2 percent while in Europe, it was 9.8 percent and the highest total land degradation, which was 23 percent occurred in this region.
