Many health experts claim that exercise is one of the best ways of maintaining good health, but others say that diet is more important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
One of the most debatable issues of contemporary society is the best way of staying healthy. One school of thought holds that exercise is the most important way to keep in shape, whereas others feel that we should prioritize our diet. I think that both are equally important and that we should not ignore either of them.
There are many reasons why some people believe that exercise is more important than diet. Those who support the idea that exercise is more important than diet claim that a sedentary lifestyle leads to many diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease. A good illustration of this is that people who do not exercise regularly often suffer from symptoms like high blood sugar and high blood pressure. In addition, they argue that exercise not only helps to improve our physical well-being, but also our mental health. For example, many people find that exercise is a wonderful way to relieve stress and look forward to swimming or play badminton after work.
On the other hand, there are those who believe that diet is more important than exercise. Proponents of healthy eating often say ‘ you are what you eat’. They believe that if we only eat junk food and do not drink enough water or get enough fresh fruit or vegetables, our health will deteriorate. The result of this is that we will suffer from the same diseases as people who do not exercise, which in turn leads to depression and unhappiness.
In conclusion, I feel that it is not realistic to decide that one is more important than the other. Regular exercise and a balanced diet go hand-in-hand. If we want to live a long happy life and not get sick, we should live healthy in all aspects of our lives, not just one. After all, prevention is better than cure.
