The chart below shows the number of jobs in tourism-related industries in one UK city between 1989 and 2009.
The bar chart illustrates the number of occupations stemming from three sectors of tourism-related industries in a city in the UK from 1989 to 2009.
Overall, it is clear that industries based on tourism created almost jobs relating to restaurants during the period shown. Additionally, while the number of jobs in restaurants witnessed a remarkable rise, the opposite trends were taken place in the other categories, despite the fluctuations.
Turning into detail, in 1989, there were exactly 800 jobs in sport and leisure, followed by a more-than-700-position figure in travel and tours. Nevertheless, in 1994, travel and tours contributed about 830 vacancies, exceeding the number of sport and leisure, which was nearly 750 positions. During the remaining period, while this number for travel and tours experienced a dramatical decline to just 400 in 2009, this figure for sport and leisure fell slightly to about 700 at the end of the period.
Concerning the other category, jobs in restaurants rose significantly from 1100 in 1989 to above 1500 in 1999. From 1999 to 2009, the figure was fluctuated, reached its peak at 1600 in 2004 before marginally declining to around 1550 in 2009.
