Average percentages of sodium, saturated fats and added sugars in typical meals consumed in the USA
The three pie charts in question show what percentage of daily intake of sodium, saturated fat and added sugar by an average person in USA in each meal throughout the course of the day. The charts illustrate the 4 meals of the day namely breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
For Sodium, the charts reveal 43% of daily sodium intake occurs at night which is supper. Lunches come second in this category where 29% of sodium is digested. The least amount of sodium is eaten in snacks and during breakfast. Quite a similar trend is observed for saturated fat ingestion. It mostly occurs at night as per the pie -data, which shows 37%. Next in line is lunch where 26% of daily fat is absorbed. Breakfast ranks the lowest in terms of daily consumption of saturated fat at 16. The third spot is occupied by snacks where 21% of the added fats are consumed.
Added sugar displays a rare anomaly, as is revealed by the charts. As per the information illustrated by the charts, most of the ingestion of added sugar occurs during snacks. 42% of the total daily intake occurs in this meal. Whereas, 23% of the daily sugar intake is carried out at dinner and 19% through lunch. Added sugar consumption at breakfast remains the least with a meager 16% share. So, overall the charts reflect a common trend that breakfast is the meal of the day when all three nutrients are least consumed by people of USA.
