The pie charts below show the average household expenditures in a country in 1950 and 2010.
The pie chart illustrates comparison of average spending by people for household purposes in a nation over a period of 60 years.
Overall, it was evident that almost three fourth of the people prioritized splurging money for housing in the year 1950 but, the trend saw a drastic reduction with only 22% of the people spending for the same. The expenditure on foods increased to more than thrice in 2010 (11.2% to 34%) which indicates that people begun considering food as their prime need as years passed by.
Furthermore, in 1950 expenditures except housing incorporated only one fourth. The outlay for other purposes and transportation also increased noticeably from 4.4% and 3.3% in 1950 to 19.2% and 14% respectively in 2010. In addition, the expenses for education remained constant over the 60 year period while a mild increase was accounted for healthcare ( from 2.4% to 4.5%)
In conclusion, within this 60 year period, individuals realised that spending money on certain other needs such as food, transportation is equally important as housing.
