Rembrandts painting origin, whether it is actually rembrandts or not?
The author and The lecturer talks about the painting of a famous Dutch painter rembrandt. Passage presents a doubt on one of his famous pantings Elderly woman in a white Bonnet. The author says that they are many errors in the painting which does not match with the actual style of the painter. but, the lecturer opposes by saying that the original painting has been modified, the painting is real.
To begin with, the author argues that rembrandt was very particular about the details of his subjects' clothing but, in the painting, the cap worn by the woman does not match with her status. white line cap which she is wearing used to wear by the servant and it does not match with the luxurious fur collar. this proves the inconsistency of the painting which the painter would have never done. but the lecturer justify and say that, according to, the expert panel, the painting was modified. someone had added fur color to make it like a real painting.
Further, The author mentions that the painter was a master of painting light and shadow. In the painting, the light on the woman's face opposes the shadow on the fur collar. To contradict this statement, the lecturer state that this difference is due to fur collar painting which has been recently painted by someone else.
Lastly, The author talks about the wood panel used in the painting. according to the author, examination of the painting reveals that the painting is made on several pieces of wood. but, rembrandt never used glued wood panels before. While the lecturer says that the wood of the piece was used on the side of the frame and the actual painting is made on the single wood panel. Further, she verify that the same wood was used by the painter for his other paintings
