The charts below show the percentage of water used for different purposes in six areas of the world.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The pie charts demonstrate the amount of water consumption (by proportion) in three fields, namely industrial, agriculture and domestic, in six areas in the world.
Generally, it is evident that people in most of these regions use water primarily for agriculture, except in North America and Europe, which spend water mainly on industrial.
Looking at more details, Central Asian and African consume most of their water in agricultural activities, which represents 88% and 84%, respectively. However, the two regions picture a conflict in the trend of water consumption for industry, which only accounts for 5% (Central Asia) and 7% (Africa). The same movement applied to South East Asia and South America. While southeast Asia utilizes 81% of water in agriculture, the latter takes up less than 10% with a similar category. The percentage of water applied in the domestic field in South East Asia is 7%, and that proportion in South America is double to almost 20%.
In contrast, the water consumes for industrial purposes accounts for half of the total water usage in North America and Europe. Domestic water usage only takes up around 14% of each figure.
