The line graph shows the percentage of New Zealand population from 1950 to 2050.
The visuals reveal the information regarding the proportion of New Zealand population and how these figures have altered from 1950 to 2050.
Overall, despite some fluctuations, the 0-14 and 38-45 age group proliferated over the studied interval, while the reverse was apparent for that of the remaining age groups. Additionally, the data for people aged over 65 consistently had the highest figure throughout the period.
There was a significant proliferation in the value for over 65 age group, with figures increasing from around 60% in 1950 to peak at approximately 70% in 1990, but later this tendency was broken, followed by a moderate decline to reach 60% in 2000 before being expected to witness a slight dwindle to finish at around 57% in 2050. Conversely, from the value of 24% in the starting year, there was initially a spike to hit the peak at nearly 50%, in the subsequent 60 years, the growth pattern reversed until the end of the period, indicated by a shrink to conclude at roughly 40%.
The data for the 25-37 age group started at around 20%, after which it underwent a period of volatility to reach 18% in 1990, before decreasing dramatically to bottom at 0 in the ending year. It was not the case for the 0-14 age group, however, when its figure accounted for about 5% in 1950, with a subsequent 40 years drop gradually to reach just 1% in 1990 and a final period of swell to conclude at 20% in 2050.
