The bar chart shows the percentage of school chidren learning to play four musical instruments (violin, guitar, piano and drums) in 2005, 2010, 2015.
The bar graph illustrates the proportion of young students who took part in four categories of orchestral instrument classes from 2005 to 2015.
Overall, it can be seen that guitar was the most popular in schools while drum and violin made up the least number of students participating. Additionally, it had an upward trend for both guitar and violin throughout this period.
In 2005, the percentage of students who played guitar was the highest figure at over 10% and higher than younger pianists. Over the next 5 years, the number of young guitar players increased significantly to 20% and reached the peak of the chart at about 27% in 2015. Both piano and guitar accounted for the nearly same percentage, at 6% in 2005. Nearly 3% of learners enjoyed piano classes less than guitar classes and finally at around 2% in the final year.
Both in 2005 and 2010, the number of school children who took part in learning violin and drum had no change at only 6% and 8% respectively. While the violin was at the bottom in 2005, for the next 10 years drum the ranks reverse in 2015 with drum topping violin by a mere 0.5% difference.
