Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the nineteenth century. The map shows the development of the village.
The map shows the growth of Chorleywood Village between 1868 and 1994.
It can be seen that there are four periods in the development of the village. Many residential areas had appeared near the main roads and a new railway and motorway were built.
From 1868 to 1883, Chorleywood village was only a small area located near one of the main roads. However, the village had expanded to the south alongside the main road from during the time from 1833 to 1922. In 1909 a railway was built across the area from west to east.
During the period from 1922 to 1970, the village grew alongside the railway to both the west and east. At that time, a motorway was built to the east of the village from north to south, crossing the railway and one of the main roads. Between 1970 and 1994, more populated areas took place near the motorway intersections with the railway and one of the main roads.
