Task 1: The percentage of people who were born in Australia and who were born outside Australia living in urban, rural and town between 1995 and 2010. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting this main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The chart shows the information about the proportion of Australian native and immigrant living in urban, rural and town from 1995 to 2010.
Overall, it was Australia cities which had the highest population. Besides, while the percentage of people living in cities followed an upward trend, the opposite was true with that of rural people.
Looking more detail in 1995, 60 percent of people born outside Australia settled in cities, when the figure for natives is 50 percent. In Australia rural areas, there was two-fifths of immigrants, 10 percent than the statistic for people born in Australia. Moreover, the proportion of population living in town ranged from 10 to 20 percent.
It is obvious that the majority of dwellers both born in and outside Australia were in cities, with 70 percent to the former and 80 percent to the later. Interestingly, the percentage of people born and bred in Australia town didn’t show any significant change, about 20%, equivalent to that of natives in rural areas. With 10 percent, the number for immigrants in Australia town was little greater than that in rural areas, about 5%.
