The diagram shows the components of a neuron and how it works
The picture illustrates the neuron’s part and the way it transmits signals.
Overall, the neuron has two parts: The first is the body or soma cell and dendrites, and the other is a compound of an axon, myelin sheaths, and terminal buttons.
The signal is conducted to the neuron through dendrites which play a role in receiving messages from other cells. Then, they come to the cell body and are transmitted continuously through the axon. In this stage, the electrical signal turns into an action potential speeded by the myelin sheath, which covering along the axon. Finally, the neural impulse travels down to the terminal button, which connects to the dendrites of another neuron to form a junction. Here, the impulse continues its process through a large amount of neuron until it reaches the target cell (muscle, gland, organs,..).
