Overall, it is clear that the proportion of male smokers was higher than the figure for female during a span of 40 years. While man saw a downward trend in the rate of smoking, there are increasingly women smoking.
In 1960, among 1000 smokers, 60% of them were men, which is as 6 times higher as women. By 1975, the percentage of female increased significantly, remaining unchanged at nearly 20% from 1965 to 1970, before peaking at over 30% in 1975. At that time, the rate of smoking in men decreased slightly, by 10% from 1960 to 1975.
During the next 25 years, both men and women was a downward trend in the number of smokers. By 1080, around 310 women and 400 men smoked. These number of smokers decreased and finished at 200 individuals for each gender in 2000.
