It can be clearly seen from the graph that the consumption of all energy sources is predicted to experience an upward trend, with the exception for hydropower source. Furthermore, the reliance on petrol and oil sources expects to keep its first position.
In 1980, the Americans/ the American dwellers used about 35 quadrillion units of petrol and oil, which was almost twice as much as natural gas (25 quadrillion units). Coal consumption was a bit lower, at just over 15 quadrillion units, while renewable energy sources such as natural gas, nuclear, solar, wind and hydro, were all about the same, at under 5 quadrillion units.
In 2030, the consumption of petrol and oil is expected to rise by 16 quadrillion units and remain the most used energy source. Moreover, the Americans are predicted to rely on coal more than natural gas, at 30 quadrillion and 25 quadrillion units, respectively. Renewable energy is expected to have a slight increase, at just under 5 quadrillion units, while the reliance on hydropower predicts to return its starting point in 1980.
