The charts illustrate the proportion of four types of food, namely processed food, vegetables and fruits, animal food and nuts and seeds, was consumed in the world, compared with the figures for China and India, in the year 2008.
Overall, consumers all over the world consumed more processed food than other kinds of food. In addition, people India and other countries ate the least nuts and seeds while Chinese ate the least animal food.
Totally, 41% of processed food was consumed by global citizens, more specifically, 34% in China and 39% in India. These numbers were followed by the figures for vegetable and fruits, with 29% in the world, 32% in China and 23% in India.
People in the world spent their money on 26% animal food, compared with 27% in India and just 15% in China. In contrast, while up to 19% of nuts and seeds were spent in China, the percentages was just at 11% and 4% for India and others respectively.
