The given column graph illustrates the information about number of trips made by school children using different modes of transport during 1990 and 2010.
Overall, it is clear that during 1990, bus was most popular mode of transport among others. However, car was used most for travelling after two decades.
To begin with, during 1990, the only 4 millions of trips were made by car ;whereas the figure increased significantly and reached at 12 millions per year after two decades. It is interesting to note that equal number of trips were made by walking and cycling during 1990 by students to go to school which was around 6 millions. While just above 2 millions of people used walking during 2010, equivalent figure for cycling was only 2 millions.
Probing further, bus and walking was used for only 7 million and 6 million trips in 1990 and 2010 respectively, surprisingly, about 12 millions of trips made by bus during 1990. In contrast, the figure remained half in following 20 years. It can be seen that all modes of transport followed a decreasing trend except car .

The bar chart illustrates how children aged 5-12 use various modes of transportation to travel to and from school in different years 1900 and 2010.
There has been a dramatic increase in transportation by car which almost tripled from 1990 to 2010 making it the most prefered transportation among children, whereas all other modes saw a decline in terms of number of trips in the same period. A sharp decline is witnessed in use of walking as a mode of transportation.
Travel through car has increased from around 4 million trips in 1990 to a little above 11 million trips in the following 20 years whereas there is a decline in walking which children used to travel around 12.5 million trips in 1990 to 6 million trips in 2010. In terms of percentage decrease cycling takes the first spot as this mode has dropped from 6 million to 2 million which is a 66.6% low from 1990.
